Yacht Design./International Moth
Inflatable terraces with positive wing profile
International moth is a research study to optimize the existing foiling sailboat: the international moth class.
It is studied to optimize aerodynamics and air fluxes. The hull thinner and lighter compared with a Mach 2 and it has chines to facilitate take of after go to about. Instead to traditional fabric terraces it has semirigid aerodynamic profiles to improve lift. The vang position is moved and it’s covered to reduce air drag. The same is for the cunningham.
The model has been analyzed using CFD simulators and it has shown a general air drag reduction.
