Ultra lightweight tubular frame
High modulus carbon fiber construction
Tubular moth is a project to experiment a way to reduce weight on a ultra light weight sailboat. A normal moth weight only 32 kilograms ready to sail.
The tubular moth is extimated to weight 26 kilograms. It is made of carbon fiber. The hull is made of prepreg composite post cured in autoclave. The tubular structure is as the same made of carbon fiber with the same technique used to build bikes. The weight reduction permits to have smaller foils and this permits to get more speed and a lower take off critical speed.
The mast is studied to be canteen but a regular rig is also mountable.
